Venue: Flemington
- Race 1: #1 Brave Mead (1 Unit Win – $3.00)
Brave Mead has been racing in great order this preparation and comes into this off the back of a win at Caulfield where he had the run of the race. Looks suited to the 1600m and no reason he can’t go back-to-back here.
- Race 3: #5 Lempicka (1 Unit Win / 2 Units Place – $11.00 / $3.10)
One at odds is Lempicka. Has won three from three this preparation and is every chance to make it four in-a-row on Saturday. Tougher assignment no doubt, but is a mare in form.
- Race 4: #5 triple Missile (1 Unit Win – $3.50)
Liking the look of Triple Missile who boasts a good second-up record (3: 1-2-0) and produced a strong performance first-up, finishing second behind Star Patrol. Loves the 1200m and James McDonald hops aboard. Hard to beat.
- Race 5: #1 Zardozi (1 Unit Win – $2.10)
After some finishes outside of the placings, Zardozi stormed back into winning form here last start in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m). Had no luck at Sandown the start before that. The 2000m looks suited and she’s a red-hot chance to make it two in-a-row.
- Race 6: #1 Shinzo (1 Unit Win – $4.20)
Shinzo hasn’t had a great deal of luck this preparation although his last run before that was a win over Cylinder in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) in March. Has won third-up and Chris Waller and James McDonald team up again. Capable of bouncing back in a big way.
- Race 7: #4 Riff Rocket (1 Unit Win – $2.10)
Riff Rocket was a hot favourite last start at Caulfield and ultimately disappointed, falling short against Sunsets. His start prior, however, was a huge statement when he destroyed his rivals at Flemington by 5.5L. A few of them line up in this and I think he will bounce back.
